FAIRFIELD & SUISUN PUBLIC EDUCATION FOUNDATION
The Fairfield Suisun Chamber of Commerce Leadership Today class of 2009 saw their vision fulfilled with the creation of and “seed” funding for The Fairfield and Suisun Public Education Foundation (FASPEF). The Foundation Inaugural Celebration and Fundraiser took place at theVezer Vineyards Blue Victorian on November 7, 2009. Wine and food was provided with entertainment by Fairfield H.S. Band and Armijo H.S. Drama students.
The Fairfield & Suisun Public Education Foundation (FASPEF) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise funds & support programs that enrich and improve the quality of the educational environment for students in the Fairfield-Suisun City geographical area.
The Fairfield-Suisun and Travis school districts will face many economic challenges in the coming years and the directors of FASPEF will work with public education leadership to collaboratively protect and enhance all of our students opportunities in education. The Foundation raised $15,000 in ticket sales and sponsorships to fund the initial "seed" money which will help to provide a strong footing for the foundation.
Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District
The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) is an award-winning elementary, secondary, and adult school district servicing an area encompassing over 261 square miles and is open to residents living in Fairfield, Suisun, and unincorporated areas of Solano and Napa Counties. In addition to providing high-quality education, FSUSD is also the third largest employer in Solano County.
The district is home to four high schools, five middle schools, 16 elementary schools, two K-8 schools, and an adult school providing education to over 23,000 students. The district is also home to a number of quality parochial schools, pre-schools, and day care facilities for children.
In April 2006, FSUSD was pleased to announce three elementary schools in the district had been named to a list of California’s Distinguished Schools.
TRAVIS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
Travis Unified School District (TUSD) offers a unique educational opportunity for children of parents on active duty and military reserve, and serves the student populations of nearby Vacaville, Fairfield, and, primarily, Travis Air Force Base.
The district boasts an enrollment of over 6,000 students, with 43% of those registered as military dependents. TUSD is home to one high school, one middle school, and five elementary schools—all conveniently located on or close to Travis Air Force Base.
TUSD also services the Travis Education Center, a continuation high school for students behind in credits or choosing alternative educational programs for their high school curriculum.
SOLANO COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Fairfield-Suisun is home to Solano Community College (SCC), a 192-acre campus conveniently located next to Interstate 80 in Fairfield.
An integral part of the community, SCC offers Associate of Arts degrees, as well as trade and technical certificates in a multitude of disciplines.
SCC registers 11,000 students for classes each semester and serves all the cities in Solano County, with additional facilities located in Vacaville, Vallejo, and Travis Air Force Base.
In addition to earning an Associates degree in any discipline, SCC also offers quality transfer opportunities to students wishing to continue their college education at a UC, CSU, or other four-year collegiate institution.
