Looking for a job? Look no further than Solano County, which is expected to experience the largest job growth out of any county in California, according to a study published by the Association of Bay Area Governments.

Throughout the County, retail employment is expected to jump by 42 percent over the next 15 years, with manufacturing employment and service employment both expected to increase by over 70% within the same timeframe. The City of Fairfield is expected have the largest numerical increase in jobs in Solano County, with ABAG estimating 17,440 new jobs being added to the area between now and 2020.

The biggest reason for Fairfield-Suisun’s success is its highly-educated and well-qualified labor force. Fairfield-Suisun’s workforce encompasses over 55,000 persons, with an additional 1.1 million persons available within a 30 mile radius of the community.

Many of Fairfield-Suisun’s labor force come from the military community, as Travis Air Force Base is currently the County’s largest employer. Retirees and active military reservists contribute their high level of skill and discipline to the workforce on a daily basis, making the area extremely attractive for job growth.

Education's Role

Fairfield-Suisun’s easy access to quality high schools, vocational schools, and Solano Community College also add to the skill-level and educational ability of the cities’ labor force. According to an estimate of the State Economic Development District, Fairfield-Suisun has one of the most qualified and educated workforces in Northern California.
